Hey morph!

I don't think I have a problem with long movies. What I found missing here is content. Jodhaa had the lamest dialogues ever, and to accept that Akbar (who is resolute and knows what he is doing) was influenced by such wishy-washy dialogues was difficulr for me.

Similarly, the kitchen politics were laughable. That Maham Anga used just that one incident to keep the couple apart was ridiculous, considering she was a chief advisory.

Many such things irked me. These things were not there and yet it was long...

Am sorry, don't remember the reel length either.

of late indian audiences have been spoilt with 2 hour movies thanks mainly
to the multiplex culture that has taken hold , the shorter the movie more shows plexes can run and the more cash flows in to filmmakers and mutliplex owners's coffers .
But traditionally our cinema has always been a 3 hour + affair (give or take few minutes) with a leisurely
interval thrown in between... and due to some unwritten principle followed by our directors the grander the movie the lengthier it has to be especially true for historical epics . Jodhaa Akbar is as grand and as epic as it can get plus it has ashutosh gowarikar's name attached to it you should expect walking in to the theatre you will be in there for a longer time . Despite the length , movie is ultimately a rewarding experience , very few are going to walk out the theatre totally disappointed .

Also you might be surprised to know ,this is the shortest film in gowarikar's filmography .

Lagaan : 224 min
swades : 210 min (indian version)
Jodhaa Akbar : 193 min

iam totally ignoring his pre-lagaan work (pehlaa nasha and baazi),
as i think with lagaan ashutosh gowarikar was reborn as a totally different and much better director . Three cheers for him for this special movie . Eagerly waiting for his next
